Literature Text

You were two parts of the same thing
One part sweet cream
And one half liquid acetylene

You nervously strode upon the deck
Of a whitewashed ship
In London Neck

I asked you to sit, be quiet, or knit
You flamed and retorted
I should have accorded
You the pleasure of having a fit

Your drama is archaic
You exhume prosaic
Dalliance and effusion
In beauteous confusion

O save me! you cried
As wine stained your dress
You gnashed and worried
Till your tresses were meshed

Back in the cabin
You said you were sated
After nine shots of absinthe
And three pints of raicilla*

You don't know the difference
Between courtesy and collusion
Your prim-rose Descartes*
Is merely an illusion

Suffice it to say
Your presence screams disarray
If ever I could, then leave you I would
Your taillights brighten my day.
